With Christmas just over a week away, Tiago and I are finishing up decorating our home and our Christmas tree is the most important thing. Since we’re not usually around for the holidays as we tend to travel, so when we are home we do make sure we deck the home out. A real tree is a must because the smell of fresh pine throughout brings warmth to my heart and really makes it feel like the holidays are in full swing! I usually like less is more when decorating our home for the holidays. Our colour scheme every year is classic, keeping with the silver, gold and white tones to give that warm holiday effect adding hints of sparkle throughout. Every year since 2009 our family Christmas tradition is to receive Swarovski’s annual ornament which is in the shape of a snowflake. To finish off the tree we used 2 furry carpets as a tree skirt to make it look like the tree is floating on a cloud.
Since I can remember my parents have always set up a manger. As kids my brother and I would go pick moss and we would bring sand back from where we’re from in Portugal. I wanted to bring that Christmas tradition to our home but obviously keeping with my colour scheme. I was so lucky when I came across this white and gold one from Homesense (I have linked similar ones below)
